Instructions for performing a software update of the CMC III Processing Unit DK 7030.000 and the Processing Unit Compact DK 7030.010 !!! Note !!! The software update can take some minutes. If a broken CMC III Processing Unit has to be replaced, it is important that the new device has the same software than the broken one. If the new CMC III Processing Unit has an older Software, it must be updated first to the newest software version, befor the sensors are connected to this new unit. Otherwise, problems with the system cannot be excepted. A CMC III PU or CMC III PU Compact with software version V3.07.03 has to be updated with software version 3.09.00, before it can be updated with a later version. The software version 3.09.00 can be downloaded via the following link: http://www.rittal.de/downloads/rimatrix5/security/CMCIII/cmc3_upg201206211006.tar !!! Safety notes !!! - The software update is performed in the appropriate network environment and is subject to the user's responsibility. - Before installing the update, the user must ensure that the safety process / safety application connected to the CMC III PU may be interrupted while the update is running or should a failure result. - Access to the CMC III PU must be guaranteed during the update. - The power supply of the CMC III PU must not be interrupted during the update. - If the update is performed via a USB device, under no circumstances may it be removed from the CMC III Processing Unit. - The connected devices must not be separated from the CMC III PU during the update. - An update may possibly reset the system settings to the factory status. 1. Update of the CMC III Processing Unit 7030.000 from a USB device !!! Note !!! Only the CMC III Processing Unit DK 7030.000, but not the CMC III Processing Unit Compact DK 7030.010, provides this update possibility. Format a USB device (e.g. a USB stick) in the FAT format. Copy the .tar file with the new CMC III PU software downloaded from the Rittal homepage to the device. The file must be stored in the root folder (master directory). Unless done beforehand, start the CMC III PU and wait until the LED on the front of the CMC III PU lights continually or flashes green, orange or red. Insert the USB stick in the USB device slot on the rear of the CMC III PU. The update starts automatically after a few seconds. The red flashing LED (heartbeat, short/long) on the front panel indicates the update process. If the CMC III PU is already equipped with this or a newer software version, it remains in its current state and does not perform any update. 2. Update of the CMC III Processing Unit DK 7030.000 and the CMC III Processing Unit Compact DK 7030.010 with FTP or SFTP via the network Start your PC and the CMC III PU and then connect both components to the same network. For an update via the network, you require the IP address of the CMC III PU. If the DHCP function is activated in the CMC III PU, you can determine the IP address by inserting the programming cable in the CMC III PU. A detailed description is contained on the CD that accompanied the programming cable. Start an FTP client program on your PC (e.g. "FileZilla"). Establish an FTP or SFTP connection to the CMC III PU. You must enter the IP address, access data and port. You must specify the username and password as access data. The following entries are stored as factory settings, username: admin and password: admin. The standard port for FTP is 21; the standard port for SFTP is 22. You may need to bypass the proxy configuration. In "FileZilla", select with the arrow button in the upper area of the user interface the "Connect (bypass proxy settings)" action. The "FileZilla" FTP program is divided into two areas: the left-hand side shows the folder structure of the PC; the right-hand side shows the folder structure of the CMC III PU. Navigate with the user interface of the FTP program on your PC to the folder with the update file. Navigate with the user interface of the FTP program on the CMC III PU to the "update" folder. Transfer the update file from your PC to the update folder of the CMC III PU by either using drag-and-drop to move the file from the left-hand side to the right-hand side or right-clicking the file and selecting the "Upload" action. The update starts automatically after a few seconds. The red flashing LED (heartbeat, short/long) on the front panel indicates the update process. If the CMC III PU is already equipped with this or a newer software version, it remains in its current state and does not perform any update. The update file in the "update" folder of the CMC III PU will be deleted automatically. 3. End of the update Once the update of the CMC III PU has been completed, the system reboots automatically. After a successful booting, the LED on the front panel lights continually or flashes green, orange or red, depending on the status. If the connected sensors also need to be updated, this will then be performed automatically. The status LED flashes white every second during such an update. The LEDs of the sensors show a blue light and the sensor, that is updating at the moment, flashes violet every second. The updatestatus of the sensors is also shown on the website. The update of the CMC III is complete when the following conditions are satisfied: - The LED on the front of the CMC III PU lights green, orange or red, depending on the status. - The LEDs on the bus connection of the sensors light green. - The status LEDs of the sensors behind the front panel flash in seconds cycles blue and, depending on the status, red, orange or green. 4. Trouble-shooting The CMC III PU generates a ".status" file in which the course of the update process is recorded. Depending on the update procedure adopted, the status file is located either in the master directory of the USB device or in the "update" directory of the CMC III PU. This file can be transferred with FTP to the PC or copied from the USB device and opened with a text processing program. This file will list any errors and it can be checked whether the update completed successfully. If the update was not successful, this file should be checked. If the file shows the error message "no space left on device", the CMC III Processing Unit must be rebooted and the update has to be repeated. !!! Note !!! After an update, open the website in the browser and press the "Ctrl+ F5" key combination to activate the changes.
