First steps for the configuration of the CMC III Processing Unit with the USB data cable !!! Important !!! The installation of the drivers requires that you have administrator rights on your PC. 1 Driver installation Insert the CD with the drivers into the drive. Now connect the USB interface of the CMC III PU with that of your PC. Your PC will now recognise the CMC III PU as a new device and the Hardware Update wizard is started. If the driver CD has already been inserted, "Automatically install software" can be selected. A click on "Next" starts the installation. After a successful installation, click "Finish" to complete the setup. 2 Configuration of the CMC III PU 2.1 Configuration under Windows XP with "HyperTerminal" Start the "HyperTerminal" program with "Accessories" and "Communication" from the start menu. Assign a name to the connection (e.g. "CMC3"), select an icon and confirm your inputs. Select for "Establish connection using:" the COM port to which the CMC III Processing Unit is connected. To determine this, proceed as follows: Open the Control Panel and select "System". Change to the "Hardware" tab and start the Device Manager by clicking the button. A click on the plus icon prefixed to the "Connections" area opens the overview of all ports. The CMC is described here as "Rittal USB CDC"; the associated COM port is shown within brackets. The Device Manager is now no longer required and can be closed. Click "OK" to confirm the selected COM port for Hyperterminal. Now enter the following settings: Bits per second: 9600 Data bits: 8 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Flow control: Hardware Click "OK" to confirm the inputs and to establish the connection. 2.2 Configuration under Windows 7 with "TeraTerm" Download the free "TeraTerm" program from the Internet. Start the "TeraTerm" program. Set "Serial" as connection type and select the COM port of the CMC III Processing Unit from the list. This is listed as "Rittal USB CDC". Click "OK" to confirm and establish the connection. Ensure that the value "9600" has been set as "Baud rate" under "Settings" and "Serial port". 2.3 Configuration under Windows 7 with "Putty" Download the free "Putty" program from the Internet. Start the "Putty" program. Select for "Connection type:" the "Serial" item. Specify the correct COM port in the "Serial line" field. For details how you can determine this, refer to 2.1. Ensure that the value "9600" has been set as "Speed". Then click "Open" to establish the connection. 3 Setting the IP address Press the Enter key to confirm. The IP address of the CMC III PU and the text "login:" appear. Enter "admin" and press the Enter key again to confirm. Enter "admin" as password. Alternatively, the login can also be performed with the user name "cmc" and the password "cmc". The menu is displayed after confirming the password. Select "1 Network Configuration" and then "1 IP Configuration". Now enter a fixed IP address, subnet mask and gateway. Alternatively, DHCP can also be enabled. This requires that the CMC III PU is connected with the company LAN using the network interface. If you select "Enable/Disable DHCP" with the Enter key, you can enable and disable the DHCP using the left and right arrow keys and confirm by pressing the Enter key. If DHCP is enabled, pressing the Escape key automatically determines an available IP address. Pressing the Escape key returns to the previous menu.
